It’s only been 10 days since we celebrated the birth of our nation, but it feels like an eternity. But I have to admit the 4th of July is my most favorite holiday. Yes, even more than Christmas and birthdays! With July 4th you get cookouts, friends, and lights in the night sky and if you’re lucky, you can extend the fun for days! It seems every city and community has their own celebration, add churches to the mix and you can get 3 or 4 nights of fireworks!
This year I tried several techniques while photographing fireworks. One I had used before – turning the focus ring while the shutter is open. You can get some amazing images doing that! This year I added a technique where you place a piece of black cardboard in front of the lens while the shutter is open. You remove the cardboard for a few seconds and then replace it and repeat the process several times before closing the shutter giving you multiple exposures on the same image. I got some very interesting photos, and I’m sure I captured fairies playing among the lights in the night sky!
Fantastic pics!
These photographs are amazing! I see fairies too!
