It’s Fun Being Great…

Fun is being a great-aunt to sweet nephews and nieces. To me it’s totally fun seeing the offspring of my family as the generations begin to extend. Your children having children makes you a grandmother and then your nephews and nieces having children makes you “great!” Both are absolutely wonderful! Here are a few photos of the youngest great-nephew. He’s such a cutie and…

A holiday tradition…”A Christmas Carol”

Going to see “A Christmas Carol” at Memphis Theater has become a holiday tradition for my granddaughter and me. This year was our third performance of watching Scrooge transform from a lonely, miserly, miserable human being to a loving, kind, and very generous man. As I was watching the play this year, it dawned on me for the first time that what Scrooge was…

My cute little elf!

This cute little elf is such a joy to have around. After I finished taking her photo, she had to take photos of her babies. The unfortunate thing was that I gave her the remote for the camera and 50 photos later I realized what I had done!! She is becoming quite the photographer and I totally love that!!

It’s Soup Again…

I love soup if you haven’t figured that out yet! It’s a meal all in one bowl – warm and yummy for the tummy! This time I made a huge batch of vegetable beef soup. I froze it in small batches to have throughout the winter. Now, on the days when I go to the gym, supper is ready when I get home! I’m…

A Soup By Any Other Name Would Taste As Good…

Whether you call this Cheese Soup or Potato Cheese Soup is still tasty! This recipe is so easy to make and so delicious! Like most of my recipes you can change it up and it’s still the best thing ever. The original recipe calls for corn, but I didn’t have any on hand, so I left it out. It also says to cook for…

A Creek + A Bridge = Fun…

I love the holidays when family gets together. This year three of my great-nephews and nieces and my granddaughter were here for Thanksgiving ranging from ages three to eight. It was so fun to hear their laughter and sequels and, yes, even their crying. Kids seem to have fun anywhere doing anything and add a creek and a bridge, and their in heaven! (Have…

Scrumptious Pumpkin Spice Cake with Maple Browned Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

Everyone who tasted this scrumdiliumcious frosting loved it. Most just wanted to eat it with a spoon – forget the cake! It was originally a recipe for Browned Butter-Cinnamon-Cream Cheese Frosting in the December issue of Southern Living, but I changed it up a little. I omitted the cinnamon, added maple flavoring and pecans, and put it on a Pumpkin Spice Cake. Here’s the…

Highlight of Thanksgiving…CAKE!

After three days of baking and cooking, Thanksgiving dinner was served right on time – well, actually just a little early. We miscalculated the start of the annual movie outing and had to quickly move dinner up about an hour in order to make it to the theater before the previews ended. You see, my brother, my youngest sister, and I take all the…

Super Cute Cake Pops…

I’ve been seeing cake pops everywhere – at Starbucks, in magazines, on the web, so I decided I’d give it a try. How hard could it be? Roll cake into a ball and dip in chocolate, easy…and it was! I had to get the hang of it, but after a couple it was easy peasy…and oh, so cute! Check our bakerella.com for lots of…

My Favorite Soup…

The weathermen are forecasting rain for the next couple days which prompted me to cook a big pot of soup. And wanting to document my Thanksgiving preparations this year with photos, I thought I would practice on my favorite soup. So here goes: photos of Taco Soup and the recipe. The best thing about this recipe is that you can substitute the ingredients with whatever…

Getting ready for Thanksgiving…

This year I want to document the preparations of THE Thanksgiving dinner. It’s days of cooking all of my family’s favorite holiday food. And by the way, the menu HAS to stay the same every year. Nobody wants it to change, and while you can add dishes, you had better keep the usual ones! In fact, THE menu hasn’t changed in almost 30 years!!…

It’s Raining Leaves…

What is with kids and leaves? If there are leaves around, kids just naturally have to play in them. They just can’t help it. They have to jump in them and throw them, then rake them back into piles and do it all over again! Even for adults, leaves are fun. They crunch underneath your feet as you walk across the yard, they swirl…

Take Two Boys, A Yard Full of Leaves, & A Sunny Afternoon…

More fun playing in the leaves. You can tell these two boy really love each other and have a ton of fun together.

The Many Faces of a Boy…

The Many Faces of Boys…It was fun taking quick snaps of these two boys. They are too funny! The not so serious one turned serious and the more serious one turned rather animated. Although there’s not a lot of difference in the younger one’s expressions, there’s a slight tilt of the smile and that same little twinkle in his eyes!

Making cupcakes…

What better way to spend an afternoon than baking cupcakes with my favorite little baker. She’s learning to crack eggs (which she does without breaking the yellows), measure the water, and use the mixer. Her favorite part, of course, was licking the bowl. And waiting for the cupcakes to cool – that can seem like an eternity for a 7 year old who can’t…

Take 2 boys, a yard full of leaves, and a sunny afternoon…

And what you get is a whole lot of fun! I had so much fun with these two boys on a fall afternoon…tossing the football, raking leaves, and, of course, jumping in the leaves. You can tell that these two brothers have fun together no matter what they’re doing.

Peach Magnolia Wedding

Folio Love set up an vintage styled outdoor wedding ceremony complete with bride and groom. All I can say is ADORABLE!

A Beautiful Outdoor Reception

The Folio Love event provided the most gorgeous outdoor setting for the reception session. It was set up under the trees and the greens of the table scape perfectly complimented the surrounding foliage. Folio Love didn’t miss a single detail. From the cute name card holders made from wine bottle corks to the little blocks that spelled out the word LOVE!

A Few More Bridal…

A few more bridal photos from the Folio Love Workshop. I still have the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception photos to edit. I hope you won’t grow tired of seeing them! I learned so much from the workshop and I am learning even more as I edit the photos.
